New Dresser Project

Finally I got my camera to upload pictures....camera cord still doesn't work but Luke taught me how to upload using my SD card....didn't even know my computer could do this.

Check out this sweet antique dresser we found at Apple of God's Eye in Bremerton.  Jake and I spotted it one Sunday we were having breakfast at Big Apple Diner, but they were closed.  I went for a walk the other day from my mom's and feel in love with it for real.  It was priced at $59 but it was half off day.  So I got it for $30.  Brian let me borrow his electric sander, since I didn't get one for Easter.

Isn't it just delicious?  I would have totally kept it this color, but it is rough around the edges.  So I have been sanding and sanding.  Not sure what color to paint it.

Remember our baby birdies, they hatched....

They grew so fast...and eventually flew away.
Totally what life is all about.  Growing up and leaving the nest.

Bookcase Redo

Remember this post....?

And this post.....?

Well it's finally done.

Step one: Wash with
soap and water with a scrub brush and hose.
Step two:  Let dry a couple days.
Step three:  Sand....Sand and Sand some more. (I am hoping Jake gets me an electric sander for Easter.  I know present aren't meant for Easter, but He spoils me.)
Step four:  Borrow neighbors chop saw and cut off bottom of bookshelf. (Jake did this part.)
Step Five: Repeat step three.
Step Six: Stain, I used Minwax Wood Finish Provincial 211, wiped it on with a paper towel.
Step seven: I painted the back of the bookcase.  I just used a left over living room sample paint (an olive green color) and eye balled it.  There was too much water damage to not cover it up.  I was going to cover it in fabric but Jake said the whole bookshelf would probably crumble if I took the backing off.
Step eight: Rub on some Minwax Polyurethane clear gloss.

Remember this old thing....?

Remember this cork board in awesome condition, I got at Faith in Action a while back for $3.00?
Well, I sanded the frame (this removed the sharpie painted chicken).
Painted it with a yellow shade from left over living room samples.  I didn't even tape it off, just eye balled it.
Added three hooks.  I had Jake twist these in by hand.
I hung it with two nails and commands strips to the bottom, to make it really secure.
Here is the finished product.
I like it.  Now we have a home for keys.  Since I lose mine on a daily basis.
Remember the crib jumping bandit?  Well here is her room as of today....still not sleeping.
See the problem is once she hops out, she can't get back in.
She's way too cute to get mad at.  We are still really sick. So I am hoping that things will work out smoother as we get better.

Milestones

Wow, today was crazy! Our little girl is growing up too fast. We are only on day two of potty training and she peed in her potty. I am so proud of her. She is so smart. Besides inspiring people with my blog, loving my husband, and saving lives as a nurse...I really do want Sawyer to have a better life than me. That really is all I want. Beside, peeing in her potty my poor babe is sick, snot just dripping out of her nose all day.  So I commend her for peeing.  I worked a princess shift this morning, only four hours and came home to this:

SO SWEET!

Sawyer loves to wear my shoes.

She also makes this funny face when I go to take a picture.  I'm hoping this is just a phase because I want to see her beautiful smile.

I just want to hold her forever and ever.

It was such a nice day out.  We went and got coffees and checked out a cool gun cabinet I spotted at Faith in Action (a hand me down store).  When we got back we rocked out in the garage and sat in the sunshine.  Seth even took his shirt off.  Sawyer ate rocks.

And made her funny face for mommy.

I bought this ugly thing for .80 cents.  I have plans people,  I have plans.  You all know I have a wreath making addiction.

I bought this for $3.00.  It is is perfect condition.  Someone took a black sharpie and drew a chicken on it.  Really?  But the cork is flawless and I have a vision.

I started staining my book shelf.  It is going to look amazing.

Here is a sneak peek.

My loves.

All three of my loves.

Sawyer also climbed out of her pack and play twice, without cracking her head on the cement in the garage.  She also throws things away in the trash, including her fork.  This requires her to open the door with a baby latch.

Tray Makeover

So I got this fabulous fabric my dear friend, Amanda.  Ever since I got it, all I can think about was what I was going to do with it.  It is right up my alley, funky kitchen style with yellows, oranges and greens.  I got this ugly tray the other day at value village for a buck.  I liked the tray because, it was metal and the trim was light yellow with just enough age it to.  So I used my mod podge and look what I made.
This is the tray before.

Supplies: scissors, fabric, mod podge, and tray

Cut fabric to fit into tray.

Cover in mod podge, I put two layers of plain yellow fabric I had, under the cute fabric, just to make sure my ivy wouldn't show through.

Finished product, I am contemplating adding handles?

Honey crisp apples are so worth $2.99 a pound, a little under $2.00 per apple
